In Kogi State, two police officers were slain by alleged hoodlums.
The incident occurred on Wednesday as the cops involved were conducting a regular patrol along Agbaja Road in Kogi State’s Lokoja Local Government Area.
The hoodlums attacked the squad when they arrived for their normal patrol, according to SP William Ovye Aya, the Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, who confirmed the event in a statement on Wednesday afternoon.
“The Command lost two of its personnel during the gun duel with the hoodlums as they fled before the re-enforcement team arrived.
“The Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Police Command, CP Akeem A. Yusuf, immediately deployed a team of tactical operatives to the area while trailing the hoodlums to apprehend and bring them to book” Says Aya
The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Investigation has been instructed by the Commissioner of Police to launch an investigation into the event, the Police spokeswoman said.
According to Aya, the Commissioner of Police also uses this media to appeal to the locals for reliable information about the hoodlums’ identities so that the Command can stop their criminal activity.
