A Fulani socio-cultural organization called Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore has said that it will name its top choice for the 2023 presidential election.
On the candidate the pastoral organization will back in the upcoming election, there have been rumors.
However, the organisation will formally endorsing Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress.
The support came as a result of lengthy negotiations recently ended between the Fulani group and the APC presidential candidate.
Remember that before the 2023 general election, Baba Othman Ngezama, the president of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), would announce the candidate to endorse.
According to Othman, the organization has given the major presidential candidates a seven-point agenda and would announce a favored candidate following appropriate consultations.
He said that agreements had been reached and that both parties had signed on the dotted line, pledging to cooperate to win the election for president for the APC and replace President Muhammadu Buhari.
Alhaji Bello Bodejo, President of the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, verified the most recent event and stated that Tinubu will receive the Association’s formal endorsement at its upcoming gathering on Friday in Lafia.
“We have a large meeting of our people, Fulani Pastoralists, coming up on Friday in Lafia. It’s at that meeting that we will carry out the formal announcement of Tinubu as our choice of presidential candidate. If you could remember, we stated a few weeks ago that we would announce our choice of presidential candidate for the coming elections and that is what will be done on Friday.
“We have consulted widely with our people and other stakeholders, and arrived at the choice of the APC presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The formal announcement to that effect will be made on Friday in Lafia,” Bodejo reportedly said.
He added:
“We have met with his representatives and had extensive discussions on the bases and conditions for our support, and both parties are satisfied with the working conditions. We have also signed the dotted lines, so we are good to go. We would release other necessary information as the need arises.”
