Olufunke Sakiru, 35, was charged by an Oyo State Family Court in Ibadan with killing her son by strangulation and has been held at the Abolongo Correctional Center in Oyo town.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Patricia Adetuyibi, who refused to accept the defendant’s plea, ordered her detention at Abolongo Correctional Center until the outcome of the state Directorate of Public Prosecution’s (DPP) legal opinion.
After that, Adetuyibi postponed the subject to March 30, 2023, for mention.
The accused is accused of murder.
The defendant is accused of strangling her son, Ibrahim Sakiru, to death on December 1 at around 3 a.m. in the Oge Irewolede district of Saki Town in Oyo State, according to the prosecution’s attorney, Insp. Folake Ewe.
According to Ewe, the offense violates Section 316 of the Criminal Code and is penalized under Section 319 of the Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
