Veteran Nollywood actress, Jennifer Eliogu, has revealed the reason behind her departure from the movie industry, even when she was at the height of her career.
During the 90s, Jennifer, alongside prominent actors and actresses such as Eucharia Anunobi, RMD, Bimbo Akintola, Ramsey Noah, Gloria Anozie, Alex Usifo, and many others, dominated the Nollywood scene.
In an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, the talented actress explained that she chose to step away from acting to become a dedicated full-time housewife abroad.
Jennifer emphasized that she sees herself as a mother hen and places great importance on protecting her children. Consequently, she could not bring herself to leave her kids behind in pursuit of her career.
The actress further stated that she couldn’t be selfish enough to prioritize her profession over her two children, especially when they were still in their formative years.
She said, “I wouldn’t have left my children for my career. They were young and I am a mother hen. I couldn’t be selfish enough to choose my career over my children.
“While I was abroad, I left my career and I was a full time housewife”
When questioned about speculation that her decision to leave Nollywood was influenced by her husband’s financial stability, Jennifer dismissed such rumors. She made it clear that she pays no attention to hearsay and does not seek validation from others.
“It is not that we don’t get shaken by those rumors but how you react to it. For me, silence is best, I don’t need validation from anybody as long on the right path”
