Chief Adebayo Adelabu, a candidate for governor in Oyo State on the Accord ticket, has stated that another four years under the administration of Engineer Seyi Makinde would be disastrous and anti-development.
This statement was given by Adelabu, a former Deputy Governor (Operations) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), on Monday in Ibadan, the state capital, during a discussion with a few journalists.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) chose Adelabu to run for governor in 2019.
Adelabu and other candidates were defeated in the election by Makinde, who ran on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) platform.
The performance of Makinde over the past three and a half years, according to Adelabu, has not been the best for the state.
He claimed that Makinde’s performance did not satisfy him, which is why he decided to run for governor in 2023.
Adelabu continued by saying that the residents of the state have come to the realization that Makinde is not the greatest choice for the state.
The public, he continued, thought the governor should only serve for four years.
Adelabu said,
“His performance till date is not the best for us as a pacesetter state.
“Another four years under this government would be disastrous and anti-development.
“That is why we came out together again and say, let us give it another try.
“So this time, virtually everybody agrees that Seyi is not the best for Oyo State and that he should be restricted to four years”.
