Nigerian Afrobeat sensation David Adeleke, famously known as Davido, recently shared the exorbitant fee he now commands for music collaborations.
In a recently surfaced online interview video, the renowned artist disclosed his new pricing strategy.
Rather than featuring foreign artists at no cost, Davido has set his fee at $100k, which equates to approximately N46 million.
He said, “Nigga, I am charging now. Yeah, I am charging now. I am sending my lawyers. If I know you, $100k”
Davido Excludes Don Jazzy from List of Nigerian Music Trailblazers In a noteworthy omission, Davido overlooked veteran music executive and singer Don Jazzy when mentioning Nigerian music pioneers.
During an interview on the latest episode of the Bootleg Kev audiovisual podcast, the ‘Omo Baba Olowo’ singer listed several Nigerian music legends, commonly referred to as the ‘OGs.’ According to Davido, individuals such as 2face Idibia and the Nigerian music duo P-Square were instrumental in paving the way in the music industry.
While acknowledging D’banj, Don Jazzy’s former partner at Mo’hit Records, as an esteemed music ‘OG,’ Davido failed to include the Mavin Records boss on his list.
He said, “Definitely D’banj. He was one of the artists I saw while growing up. D’banj, 2Face…So, the big 3 then were D’banj, 2Face, and there was a group of twins called P-Square. Those were our OGs. They were the people that made this thing possible.”
