In Buhari’s hometown, Minister Of Sports Sunday Dare Receives A Traditional Title.
Meanwhile, Sunday Dare, Minister of Youth and Sports Development, was turbaned as Sarkin Wasanni on Thursday (which means king of games).
At his palace in Daura, Katsina State, the minister was turbaned by the Emir of Daria, His Royal Highness (HRH) Umar Farouk Umar.
The coronation event was attended by luminaries, including high-ranking government officials, legislators, diplomats, and members of the organized private sector.
Umar stated during the gathering that Dare received the traditional title in honor of his achievements and services to nation-building through grassroots sports development.
The monarch noted that the minister was given the title in recognition of his commitment to the provision of new sports facilities and renovation of the deteriorating ones, including the Daura township stadium in Katsina state.
In response, the minister thanked the queen for the title and pledged to do more for the country’s sports scene.
“I feel so elated to be honored by the Katsina Emirate with this prestigious title. It is at the same time a challenge for me to live up to the expectations of the Emir and the entire Emirate,” he said.
