Following the ongoing instability in various Local Government Areas of the state, the federal government has started collecting data on terrorist victims in Katsina State in order to help the most vulnerable residents
The impacted persons whose data was acquired, according to a statement from the federal government dated December 22, would be integrated into all National Social Investment Programmes.
Funke Olatunji acted as Muhammed Soso’s representative. Muhammed Soso is the head of the ministry’s Special Duties Department.
She stated during a survey-related sensitization that the victims had already endured enough and needed support that would change their lives.
“It is a fact that insecurity in Nigeria has continued to restrict access to basic services and both affected people and host communities require emergency support and other necessary humanitarian assistance.
“To this end, the ministry whose mandate is to provide assistance for vulnerable groups in Nigeria, has realised the enormous challenges faced by the victims of terrorism across Nigeria and has commenced a pilot phase of sensitisation and survey of the victims,” Muhammed-Soso said.
“The ministry intends to mainstream the victims into all National Social Investment Programmes with a view to strengthening their resilience through social inclusion and provision of durable solutions,” Funke Olatunji added.
Muhammed-Soso hoped that the exercise’s recipients would take advantage of the chance and offer the ministry with concrete data that would assist it in attaining its goals.
