According to the Kaduna State Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria, around 28 innocent, helpless members of the Mallagum community who lived in the Kagoro neighborhood of Kaura Local Government Area were ruthlessly murdered on Sunday night.
In a statement released on Monday, Rev. John Joseph Hayab, the state head of CAN, said:
“This massacre has further proven that the killers of the Southern Kaduna people have not yet been neutralized as claimed.”
He urged the federal government and the security agencies to stop letting the murderers get away, stating that no matter who was involved, the murderers had to be found, apprehended, and prosecuted.
He said:
“These renewed killings may be a strategy to scare the people from exercising their rights and to further increase fear and impoverish them.”
As a result, CAN strongly denounced what it called “this atrocious conduct” and pleaded with the affected communities and the people of Southern Kaduna to maintain peace so that the government and security officials could carry out their duties.
Additionally, he urged the government and security to urgently take on the responsibility of protecting people and property, allowing Nigerians to go about their everyday lives without impediment in these trying times.
