Nigerian Grammy Award winner Burna Boy has responded to Pele’s passing.
A few days before Christmas, the three-time World Cup champion was admitted to the Albert Einstein Israelita Hospital in Sao Paulo and passed away on Thursday at the age of 82.
According to accounts, the 82-year-old was experiencing cardiac problems, and medical personnel were worried that his chemotherapy treatment was not producing the expected effects.
The three-time World Cup champion’s passing was verified by The Associated Press on Thursday night.
The statement reads, “Brazilian soccer legend Pelé, winner of record 3 World Cups and standard-bearer for ‘the beautiful game,’ has died at 82.”
Burna Boy expressed his sorrow for the legend on his Twitter page in response to the news.
He wrote: “RIP Pele. A man with a strong legacy that will be remembered FOREVER. Legends Never Die they are always Remembered in the hearts of the People.”
