Mamman Daura, a relative of President Muhammadu Buhari, has disclosed years in which presidential elections in Nigeria were manipulated.
Daura claims that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) manipulated the presidential elections in 2003, 2007, and 2011.
This information was provided by Daura in a film about the president titled “Essential Muhammadu Buhari.”
He asserted that President Buhari’s emotional breakdown during the 2011 presidential campaign was brought on by his past election-related experiences.
President Buhari’s political career was described by Daura, including his failed attempt to become the president in the elections of 2003, 2007, and 2011.
Former president Olusegun Obasanjo defeated Buhari in 2003. Umar Yar’Adua defeated him in 2007; Goodluck Jonathan defeated him in 2011.
The president declared that this would be his third and final run for the presidency during the 2011 campaign. “I will not present myself again for election into the office of the president,” he said.
“he broke down in pity for the system (electoral) in the country.”
Because he had contacted Buhari’s attorney after the 2007 election to get the results of several states, he claimed that all three elections had been manipulated.
Daura said, “He gave me the one for Imo State. I went over the result carefully and I saw PDP, Yar’Adua – 25,000 votes and Buhari – 5,000, and so on. All round figures throughout. Even the winner of the election, Yar’Adua had said the election was faulty.”
