In new attacks on Southern Kaduna on Sunday, more than 28 people died.
The attacks happened in the Kagoro Chiefdom settlements of Malagum 1 and Sokwong in Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
While confirming the event on Monday, Mr. Mathias Siman, the chairman of the Kaura local government council, said he could only state that seven persons were brutally slaughtered in the Sokwong Community.
that the Sunday shootings occurred roughly five days after three people were killed in Malagum 1 village by unidentified attackers.
The council chairman added that the attackers completely leveled the homes in the Sokwong neighborhood, adding that he was still unsure of how many people had died in Malagum 1.
The council chairman urged the locals to maintain their composure as security forces were sent to the region to conduct an investigation and make sure those responsible for the terrible act would face the full force of the law.
Atuk Stephen, the Speaker of the Kaura Local Government Area, said that eight persons had also died in Sokwong and over 22 had been slain in Malagum 1.
He referred to the attack on innocent people as fatal and urged the Federal Government and security services to step up their efforts to stop new deaths in the area.
He regretted that despite the government and security personnel’s best efforts, the attacks in their area had been ongoing and multifaceted.
The state police public relations officer, DSP Mohammed Jalige, could not be reached for comment on the event.
