The Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners of Nigeria (TAMPAN) has called seasoned actor Olaiya Igwe to appear in front of them regarding a video he posted online in which he was without wearing any clothing.
Remember that the actor recently posted a video of himself praying for Bola Tinubu to win the 2023 presidential election while wearing nothing but his underwear by the sea on his social media pages.
He wrote the following in the video’s caption:
“It is my pleasure to support a candidate who truly reflects our values and highest ideals. There is one candidate in this election who will protect that dream. One leader who will fight hard to keep the promise of Nigeria for the next generation. And that’s why we must stand up and make ASIWAJU BOLA AHMED TINUBU JAGABAN the next president of Nigeria”.
Social media users expressed their opinions about his revealing video, and as a result, his Instagram page was reported and deleted.
Instead of doing this, TAMPAN has established a disciplinary commission to examine the situation and penalize the performer for his behavior.
Actress Rose Odika, a TAMPAN executive, revealed this to Sunday Scoop. Olaiya Igwe has been called to appear before a disciplinary body, but the actress said that he has not yet done so.
Rose Odika said:
“He has the right to support whoever he wants to, but we have the moral justification angle. We are looking at the morality behind that advert (video). It is not about who he is supporting. It is about him breaching the code of ethics (of our association and industry.”
Olaiya Igwe, however, has refuted TAMPAN’s summons. He told Sunday Scoop that he was unaware of any disciplinary committee when questioned about it.
He said:
“I don’t know who discussed that with you. I did not hear anything about that. God bless you.”
