Ladies and gentlemen, put your hands together for the latest victor in the political arena – Alex Otti, the man who just won the Abia State gubernatorial elections under the Labour Party (LP) banner!
In a dramatic declaration at the State Collation Centre in Umuahia, the esteemed Returning Officer, Professor Nnenna Oti, announced the long-awaited results on Wednesday. The LP candidate emerged victorious after securing a whopping 172,386 votes, defeating his closest rival from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by a comfortable margin.
But wait, there’s more! The suspense was killing us as the Independent National Electoral Commission had to suspend the collation of results from Obingwa Local Government Area due to alleged attacks and irregularities. However, after much anticipation, the commission finally gave the green light to continue the results collation from the council, and we were not disappointed with the final outcome.
The LP candidate won in 10 local government areas, leaving the PDP candidate in the dust with just six areas. But hey, it’s not all bad news for the PDP as their candidate from the Young Progressives Party still managed to clinch victory in Osisioma Local Government Area, where he hails from.
