For inflicting severe bodily harm on a woman her husband owes Ksh200, a Kenyan woman has been charged in court.
After being charged before Mombasa Principal Magistrate Vincent Adet, Cecilia Kingi Muuo entered a not-guilty plea.
Faith Chelangat, the woman who sustained 60% burns, reportedly went to Muuo’s house to seek the money she is owed.
She was apparently informed by the suspect that her spouse wasn’t home at the time. She invited her inside their home, but asked that she hold off until he arrived.
When Muuo started boiling water for the dinner she was preparing, she abruptly lost control and threw the hot water on Chelangat, telling him to keep away from her husband.
Neighbors who heard the victim’s cries for help came to her aid and took her right away to Coast General Hospital.
With one comparable surety and a bail of Ksh 50,000, the accused was freed. For preliminary purposes, the case will be mentioned on January 11, 2023.
